Medical Records Career Training

The future in non-clinical health services!

Do you enjoy being one of the first in a new highly skilled job? Would you like to be part of a team providing non-clinical health care services to children, adults and the elderly? Do you enjoy using computers as well as interacting with others?

Then you are perfect for the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology’s two-year associate degree in Electronic Health Records.
What is Electronic Health Records?
Remember the doctor’s office visits and seeing the physician or an assistant recording your health information on paper? Those days are virtually over. Today, patients’ health records are maintained and shared electronically.

For instance, an injured person is at an emergency room while on vacation in Florida. The attending physician contacts the patient’s physician in Philadelphia. In an instant, the health records are transmitted to the Florida physician so that the patient will receive the best care. The physician treating the patient has the complete medical and prescription records eliminating the possible unknown.

Federal law now requires the transmission of medical data by health care providers for reimbursement especially for federal and state programs.
What kind of career will I have?
P.I.T. has designed our Electronic Health Records Program based upon the needs of health care providers and insurance companies – regardless of size. It is also designed to make it highly transferable because of your associate degree is equal to the first two years of a four year electronic health records program.

  • Medical Records Specialist
  • Electronic Health Records Implementation Specialist
  • Electronic Medical Records Reporting Specialist
