Computer Software and Information Technology (AAS)

Computer Software and Information Technology (SIT) is an extremely dynamic discipline requiring professionals with a broad base of up-to-date skills. Changes occur rapidly, not only in the computing technology, but also in the computing needs of the community. To better keep pace with emerging technologies, P.I.T. has become an authorized member of both the Microsoft IT Academy and the Cisco Networking Academy.

SIT majors specialize in System Administration and Support. This requires a core of 15 courses designed to give students a fundamental understanding of both theoretical and applied computer software and information technologies.

In the final semester courses are given one at a time sequentially so that students can concentrate on one topic exclusively before moving on to the next.

Graduates are qualified for entry-level positions as junior programmer, systems analyst, information technology solutions designer, network administrators, LAN/WAN design technicians or help desk support technicians. Graduates may also transfer appropriate credits to a four-year degree program.
