CRJ205 - Introduction to Corrections

In this course, students will survey the historical evolution of the corrections system in the United States from its earliest days through the development of the penitentiary, and into today's privatization of prisons. How a correctional institute is organized is discussed as well as the various levels of population threat are identified. The purpose behind corrections will be analyzed and modern theories of rehabilitation are examined.
