Vance Gray, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at Pennsylvania Institute of Technology, has been selected as a Distinguished Ambassador for the CFR Education Ambassador program for the 2026-2027 academic year, following his service as a 2025-2026 CFR Education Ambassador.
Gray is among approximately 80 higher education faculty members and administrators selected for this year’s CFR Education Ambassador program, representing institutions across 42 states. The program connects educators with resources, professional development and colleagues from across the country to strengthen global affairs education.
Reflecting on the recognition and what it means for P.I.T. students, Gray shared:
“For Pennsylvania Institute of Technology, this recognition means we now have a direct connection to a national, nonpartisan organization dedicated to strengthening global awareness and civic literacy.”
Through his role, Gray serves as a resource for students, helping them better understand global health, international relations, and what it means to be a global citizen.
“This work supports our students in seeing themselves relative to others in the world, understanding how global events shape local realities, and developing the mindset needed to engage thoughtfully in an interconnected world.”
This experience also brings a focus to several core principles:
- Nonpartisan inquiry: helping students evaluate global issues based on evidence.
- Global interconnectedness: showing how health, economics, and security link communities across borders.
- Civic literacy: strengthening students’ ability to interpret world events.
- Perspective-taking: encouraging students to understand diverse viewpoints.
- Informed engagement: preparing students to participate meaningfully in global conversations.
“Overall, this Ambassador role elevates P.I.T.’s commitment to preparing students for a world where global understanding is essential,” Gray said.
