Health Science Students at P.I.T.

Health Science is the gateway to our Physical Therapy Assistant and Practical Nursing Programs!

Admission to nursing and physical therapist assistant programs is highly competitive. Only a few vacancies exist each year for highly qualified candidates in these programs in the greater Philadelphia area.

What can you do to be a top candidate? Demonstrate to the admissions' committees that you have the perseverance and can excel doing collegiate level work.

P.I.T.’s Associate in Health Science provides you with the opportunity to prove that you can shine as a top student in nursing, physical therapist assistant and other top flight medically-related programs.
What is the Health Science Program?
P.I.T.’s Health Science program prepares you for admissions in nursing programs, physical therapist assistant programs and other highly competitive medically-related programs. Top grades in this program prove to colleges and universities that you have the stamina, perseverance, drive and academic skills to succeed in rigorous clinical patient care programs. Remember, there are only a limited number of vacancies – only the top candidates are accepted.

Semesters 1 and 2 are the required semesters in P.I.T.’s Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program. Should you be admitted and meet all the other requirements for admissions to the PTA program and excel as a student in the Health Science program, you have completed two out of five semesters of the required program.

Similarly, a number of courses in semesters 1 and 2 are pre-requisites to prepare you for P.I.T.’s practical nursing program should you meet all the other entrance requirements.
Why is the program beneficial to me?
The Health Science program at P.I.T. prepares students for candidacy at many of the region’s nursing and physical therapist assistant programs, including P.I.T.’s Practical Nursing and Physical Therapist Assistant programs.

Gain that competitive advantage now!! Current academic success is a strong indicator of future academic success. Prospective students should consult with other educational institutions regarding admissions requirements in these types of programs. Those who make acceptance decisions strongly rely on past academic success.
Why choose P.I.T. to prepare for nursing or physical therapist assistant careers?
  1. Courses Transfer to other colleges and universities
Most of the courses, and in many cases all of the courses will transfer to other colleges and universities.

  2. Experienced Instructors
The College’s Health Science instructors either come from a real world background or still hold nursing or physical therapy positions. They share their working knowledge to better prepare our students to enter the workplace.

  3. Intimate learning environment and family atmosphere
Our instructors know each student on a first name basis. Smaller class sizes allow us to focus on each student’s individual strengths and areas in need of improvement.

  4. Parallel learning
P.I.T.’s unique “parallel learning” approach saves time and money for students. We offer both skill strengthening and degree classes at the same time, fast-tracking students to a degree.

  5. Learn at your own pace! – E-Learning at P.I.T
A number of courses are blended learning enabling students to spend less time in class and more time learning. You meet once a week with the instructor and the rest of the time learning on computer software.

  6. Free tutoring
Scheduled tutoring from both instructors and honor students is available to ALL P.I.T. students, free of charge!

  7. Portfolio Building and Interview Coaching
The value of a P.I.T. education extends beyond the classroom! Our instructors work hard to prepare graduates through portfolio building and interview coaching.
